Sepideh taking a water break between sessions

Answers to the questions people ask most about private Pilates at Sépilates in Rustington: getting started, health and pregnancy, booking, Duet sessions, cancellations, Class Packs and Memberships. You can also read what Reformer Pilates is, see sessions and prices, or book online.

Getting started
Do I need any experience?

No. You do not need any experience. Every session is adapted to your body, so you can start from the very beginning.

Is Sepideh qualified and insured?

Yes. Sepideh has over 10 years of experience teaching Pilates. She is certified in Mat, Reformer, Cadillac and Chair Pilates, has trained on the Ladder Barrel, has specialist training in pre and postnatal Pilates and is fully insured.

How long is a session?

Each appointment is a 60-minute slot: 50 minutes of Pilates teaching plus up to 10 minutes for arrival, a brief check-in, transitions and departure.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing suitable for Pilates and movement. You can train barefoot or in grip socks: both are welcome and neither is compulsory.

Do I need grip socks?

No. Both barefoot and grip socks are welcome at Sépilates Studio, and neither is compulsory. If you prefer to wear them, Pilates grip socks are available to buy at the studio.

Will I need to fill in a health questionnaire?

Before you begin you may be asked to complete a health and exercise questionnaire. Please tell Sepideh about any injuries, pain or physical limitations, medical conditions, recent surgery, pregnancy or recent childbirth, medication or medical advice that could affect your exercise, and let her know if anything changes.

How often should I come?

That depends on your goals, and Sepideh can advise you. A Class Pack, or a Membership of 4 or 8 sessions a month, makes regular sessions simple.

Health, injuries and pregnancy
I have back pain or an injury. Can I come?

Sépilates offers sessions that support movement, strength, mobility, rehabilitation and recovery. They are not medical treatment, and where appropriate you may be asked to get guidance from your GP, physiotherapist or consultant before you start. Tell Sepideh about any injury or condition when you book.

Is it suitable during pregnancy and after birth?

Yes. Private pre and postnatal sessions are adapted to your stage of pregnancy, your circumstances and any medical guidance. Please tell Sepideh if you are pregnant, think you may be, or have recently given birth. You may be asked for clearance from your healthcare professional before continuing. Pre and postnatal sessions are booked as a Private 1:1 at £55, with no extra charge. Please email sepilatesstudio@gmail.com before booking or attending your first session so your session can be properly adapted.

Can I book Mat Pilates on its own?

There is no separate Mat Pilates booking. Book a Private 1:1 or Duet 2:1 session, and if you would prefer to focus entirely on Mat Pilates rather than the Reformer, email Sepideh at sepilatesstudio@gmail.com before your appointment. Every session can be tailored to you, including Mat-based Pilates.

Booking and Duet sessions
How do I book?

Book online in the timetable on the Book page: choose Private 1:1 or Duet 2:1, tap a time and pay by card. Sessions are bookable from Monday 2 November. For anything else, email Sepideh at sepilatesstudio@gmail.com.

Can I book a time that is not listed?

If you need a time that is not shown in the booking timetable, you are welcome to ask. Where possible Sepideh may be able to offer an adjusted or alternative time, for a one-off booking or a regular Membership schedule, subject to availability. Email sepilatesstudio@gmail.com or send a WhatsApp message.

How does Duet 2:1 work?

Duet is private Pilates for two. Bring your partner, a friend, your mum or your workout mate and enjoy the same personal attention as a private session, for £35 each instead of £55. It is a lovely way to stay motivated together. Each person pays for, or uses a credit for, their own place.

My friend and I want to come together. How do we make sure we both get the session?

One of you books the Duet session and switches on "reserve additional spot", adding your friend's contact details. That holds both places, and the person booking pays by card for both (£35 each). Class Packs and Memberships cannot pay for the second place, so if you each want to use your own pack or membership, book your own places. If only one place is booked, the second place stays open and anyone can book it.

What happens if one of us cancels a Duet?

Duet sessions work best when you keep them together, so please try to plan any changes as a pair. If one of you cannot make it, let Sepideh know as early as possible and she will try to find someone to take the place so the session can go ahead. If the place cannot be filled, the session may need to be cancelled, and if it happens repeatedly the session may change to a Private 1:1. Sepideh will always confirm with you before anything changes. The 24-hour rule below applies to each place.

Cancellations, Class Packs and Memberships
How do I cancel or reschedule a session?

Please cancel or reschedule your session at least 24 hours before it starts. With 24 hours' notice your credit goes back to your account, Class Pack or Membership, so you can book another time. With less than 24 hours' notice, or if you do not attend, the session is charged in full or the credit counts as used. Genuine exceptional circumstances are considered at Sepideh's discretion.

What if I am running late?

Please arrive on time. If you are late, the session may still finish at the original time so the next client is not affected, and the full fee normally applies. If you are so late that the session can no longer safely take place, it may be treated as a late cancellation.

How long do Class Packs last?

A Class Pack of 5 sessions is used within 42 days (6 weeks) of purchase. Packs are for the person named at purchase and cannot normally be transferred. The 24-hour rule applies to every session you book with a pack.

How do Memberships work?

Memberships of 4 or 8 sessions a month renew automatically each month on the card you used. Unused sessions do not roll over to the next month. Memberships are personal to the named client.

How do I cancel a Membership?

Please give at least 14 days' notice before your next payment date. If notice arrives less than 14 days before, the next payment may still be taken and your Membership ends at the close of that paid month.

The studio
Where is the studio?

Sépilates is a private studio in a residential home in Rustington, West Sussex. Full arrival details are sent when your booking is confirmed.

Is there parking?

Yes. Free off-road parking is available on the driveway for clients attending sessions. Please arrive at your start time rather than early, which keeps noise and disruption to the neighbours to a minimum.

Can I bring my children or a friend to watch?

Because the studio is private and contains specialist equipment, please do not bring children, pets or extra guests unless agreed with Sepideh in advance.

How can I contact Sepideh?

Email is best: sepilatesstudio@gmail.com. You can also send a WhatsApp message (messages only, no calls). Booking online is the quickest way to secure your time.
